Step 1
Open any picture that you want to use.

Step 2
Go to Image – > Adjustments -> Desaturate (or Shift+Ctrl+U) to convert the image into grayscale.

Step 3
Now go to Image – > Adjustments -> Brightness/Contrast. Increase the contrast by dragging the Contrast slider to the right.

Step 4
Get the “Lasso Tool” and draw a selection in shape of your desired brush on the image.

Step 5
Go to Edit -> Copy (or Ctrl+C), then Edit -> Paste (or Ctrl+V). Photoshop will paste it into a new layer. Rename this new layer “brush”. (To rename a layer, right-click on the name in the Layer Palette and select Layer Properties).

Step 6
Create another new layer. Fill it with white color. Drag this layer between the two existing layers
Go back to the “brush” layer. Click on the Magic Wand tool in the toolbox. Uncheck the Contiguous box. Click the magic wand tool on the white area. Hit strong>Delete.

Step 7
Select the eraser tool, choose brush mode (Spatter brush). Drawing with it around the edges you can take sections of the image to transparency.

Step 8
Select your brush by holding down the Ctrl Key while clicking the layer that your brush is located on.
Choose Define Brush Preset ( Edit -> Define Brush) and give the brush a name.
To use your brush, select it by going to the brush tools menu at the top left. Scroll down to the bottom and you will find your new brush.
